Swarm Light by rAndom International

‘Swarm Light’ by rAndom International / Design Miami / Art Basel 2010 from rAndom International on Vimeo.
rAndom International has presented their latest work “Swarm Light” at Design Miami/Art Basel. On their website rAndom international writes:”‚Self Portrait‘ (working title) is the archetypal blank canvas that engages you, the spectator, with a large-scale, ephemeral representation of yourself. All evidence of the encounter exists only in the moment of interaction between you, the viewer, and the object. Gradually, moment and image fade away, never to be repeated.
In addition to these new works, on the ground floor rAndom will be presenting ‚You Fade to Light‘ with the Carpenters Workshop Gallery. The installation translates the viewer’s presence from a mirror image into light, encouraging a physical / kinesthetic engagement with light itself.”

LED replacement bulb for 60Watt LED by LEDO GmbH
LEDO GmbH has developed a new type of replacement for the 60Watt GLS. Unlike all the other replacement bulbs, this design has taken the original distribution of the GLS into account. source: notcot

Philips super GLS replacement lamp
[posted by Benz Roos]

Philips's Endura LED lamp
On the Light and Building show in Frankfurt I though the Philips LED GLS replacement lamp is the only real alternative for the old incandescent bulb. This lamp is the only lamp on the market with a similar light distribution as the old GLS. That’s way it’s so cool. With the release on light fair in New York I’ll really hope that this lamp will find it’s way to Europe soon. source:Core 77

Paper light fixture
[posted by Benz Roos]

3D paper sketch of W101 light, the final product is made of pressed sheets of DuraPulp
Swedish architects and designers Claseeon Koivisto Rune has designed a task light made entirely of paper. the design is for wedish lighting brand Wästberg. The luminaire will have warm white LED’s as a light source. I’m wondering how the heat sink for the LED’s are made. It would be a bit disappointment if the fixture has the good old 5mm low output LED’s. Anyway I like the concept of a paper fixture. Source: Dezeen(you can see the final product there as well!)
