“Luzes relacionais” (Relational Lights) is an interactive audio-visual installation that explores our relationship with the expressional-organic character of space. The installation uses light, sound, haze, and a custom-software system to create a morphing, three-dimensional light-space in which spectators actively participate, manipulating it with their presence and movements”(from Ernesto klar’s site) source: creative applications

        Typographic Trees

typographic tree columns at crawley library.

For the new library designed by architects Penoyre and Prasard, Gordon Young, in collaboration Why Not Associates, has created a ‘forest’ of oak columns which are sited throughout the library and installed from floor to ceiling like supporting pillars. Workshops with users of the library were held by artist Anna Sandberg to gather information on people’s favourite books, places and memories. Using this generated content, Gordon worked with typographers Why Not Associates to design the columns. Each of the 14 solid oak columns reflect different subjects from the gothic to the romantic and are sited in specific relevant locations within the library.

“Light from a candle is a continuously variable field that emanates from a point outward. We enclosed a candle in a box covered with sensors. The sensors sample the light from the candle and are connected to corresponding cold-cathode light tubes in the space behind the box. At any given moment, a three dimensional cross section of the light from the candle is detected by the sensors and then amplified to fill the space of the room. This allows visitors to walk inside the field of the candle and experience it as a space” summery by the artist Nicholas Hanna. source: creative applications
