Paper pulp chair
[posted by Benz Roos]
Swedish architects Claesson Koivisto Rune exhibited their Parupu children’s chair made from Dura-pulp, a composite material manufactured from paper pulp and cornstarch. According to Marten Claesson of CKR, “It [durapulp] has the qualities of plastic. You can mold it but it’s not oil based.” The chair was developed in con-junction with Södra, a Swedish pulp manufacturer, along with engineer Joakim Nygren. In the center of Milan at Skitsch, a new design retailer and manufacturer, Frenchman Philippe Nigro debuted Build Up, his flat-pack chair and table made from corrugated cardboard. Clearly the paper pulp trend has migrated to other shores. source material connexxion

Luminaries with propellers, for in the sky?
[posted by Benz Roos]

Light wind
Another example of a creative energy saving LED-fixture. According his creators de Makersvan; ‘An outside lamp drawn from our home surroundings. The gently sweeping Dutch windmills were actually perfect generators on their own. With that in mind, we made this lamp. With every breeze it stores energy, enough to enjoy every summer evening until forever. Contemporary vs traditional, art vs functionality. Shaped by its function the big prop spans over one meter on each side. It is a self supporting light source that marks the landscape.
I not so sure of this energy friendly thing, however I do really like luminaries with propellers. So if you see some, please let me know! -

Onderbroeken lol!
[posted by Benz Roos]

cow-dung-luminaire
This lamp is made out of the lovely brown letter production of cows. Can you imagine? Every time you walk into field with cows, you think; ‘hmmm … look at what thick Berta has produced … a nice fluffy brown luminary! Stick in a nice GLS on the heated-up luminary starts nicely smell as well.
Nevertheless I really like this kind of eco-design with a sense of ‘onderbroeken lol’
