Sunset set on mars as seen by NASA's Mars Exploration Rover Spirit
On May 19, 2005, NASA’s Mars Exploration Rover Spirit captured this stunning view as the Sun sank below the rim of Gusev crater on Mars. This Panoramic Camera mosaic was taken around 6:07 in the evening of the rover’s 489th Martian day, or sol.
Proffesor Brian Cox present currently a new documentary serie on the BBC about the universe. He has shown this image in one of the documentaries. Of course it has nothing to do with really with light as we shown it on this blog. However I think it’s a amzing to see the earth light ‘ the sun’ from other planets in familiar settings. source: nasa

UVA were commissioned by Virgin Media to create ‘an immersive light installation celebrating 10 years of broadband in the UK’. Speed of Light will be a series of experimental light works flowing through the labyrinthine spaces of the Bargehouse, the four-storey industrial space on the South Bank. Speed of Light will be at the Bargehouse, Oxo Tower Wharf, Bargehouse Street, South Bank, London, SE1 9PH, from April 9 to 19. source: Creative Review

Neon men

Allow Spine TV to introduce Chris Bracey & Bill Elwood master neon sign makers. Chris & Bill talk about some of the famous signs they’ve made as well as the manufacturing process which hasn’t changed much since the 1930′s.
In this film we also see Chris Bracey installing the largest neon sign in the country on the roof of Selfridges in London. Chris Bracey’s father and Bill Elwood installed the first ever neon ‘Mobil’ in Europe in 1952. source SpineTV

Toyota iQ-Font

iQ font – When driving becomes writing / Full making of from wireless on Vimeo.
Two typographers (Pierre & Damien) and a pro race pilot (Stef van Campenhoudt) collaborated to design a font with a car.
The car movements were tracked using a custom software, designed by interactive artist Zachary Lieberman. (openframeworks.cc)
