We’ve got to give it to Ben Wilson– it takes plenty of ingenuity to make a recumbent bike look cool. Not only did Mr. Wilson do that with his Artikcar Bike, he made the recumbent bike very much en vogue. Artikcar is a four-wheeled recumbent-style bike with a bubbly rider profile that is laced with bright neon lighting. Beyond its bold design sensibility, Wilson’s Artikcar is as much about safety as it is about style. That neon wrapping will ensure that the drivers you share the road with will be well aware of your presence.

GE announces new efficiency(56lm/W) on O-LeD

“GE and Konica Minolta announced that they have achieved a “major breakthrough” in their white OLEDs: an efficient 56Lm/w flexible white OLED that is made using solution-coatable materials in a roll-to-roll printing process. The materials have “commercially viable lifetime” (we do not know exactly what they mean by that).”(o-led info). See the press statement here.
It’s quit exciting this new technology, however the fixtures and design-ideas are really boring. Like the ugly desk lamp pictured above. I’m really looking forward to see the first amazing designs for this superb technology! source: oled info -

Breathing Room III in the White Cube

Antony Gormley has made an installation in the basement of the white cube gallery. The installation exist of 15 interconnecting photo-luminescent rectangular frames. Every ten minutes the room is filled for 10 seconds with an intense burst of light to ‘re-energize’ the photo-luminescent frames. Breathing room III and invites the viewer to enter the glowing frames. The glowing light of the frames gives the viewer a strange experience of the sculpture space. If you’re in London you should definitely have a look at the white cube. Otherwise a have look at Gormley’s site to see his sculptures
