Kasja Sperling talks on TEDxGöteborg
[posted by Benz Roos]
Lighting designer Kajsa Sperling talks about light pollution. It’s of course a well known fact that scattered light of street lanterns causes over bright skies. Also the glare of the lanterns will interrupt our vision of the beautiful night sky with stars. Although it’s a well known subject I think it’s always interesting and a motivating thought for lighting design.

Light sculpture ‘Dream’ by Alessandro Luppi
[posted by Benz Roos]
It is a ’statue’ of a sleeping woman made of threads which are painted with a translucent material on selected sections. When it is lit with UV light the painted sections start to glow and create a 3D image of a sleeping woman. I really like the simple materials used to great an astonishing effect. source: enlighter

Wortschatz Lebenszeichen
[posted by Benz Roos]
A mountain of words was shown this weekend at the rheinpatie. rheinpartie’ is a festival of projection art and media in the Unesco World Heritage Upper Middle Rhine Valley. Beside the large-scale projects of international artists which show fascinating images and dream worlds in castles, monuments and ruins with the newest technologies there is a row of local initiatives to show the life on and with the river Rhine via small scale projections on house walls and facades. Technical fascination and the charm of the private initiative transform the Rhine Valley all around the day of the German reunification into a landscape with future. source: rheinpartie

Light graffiti spray cans
[posted by Benz Roos]
French designer Aïssa Logerot has designed the ‘Halo’. Halo is a handy light-writing tool, preserving the techniques and gestures that graffiti artists use with spray cans. It is possible to change the color and the brightness of the led to change the graffiti’s styles. If the light doesn’t have enough battery, users simply have to shake it to have energy again. source: Aissalogerot
